Worship Assistants

Musicians

Volunteer musicians, including vocalists and instrumentalists are an essential part of the worship experience. There are no auditions for volunteer musicians -- all are welcome to join CTK's musical ensembles. See the music page for more information.

Readers and Assisting Ministers

Both Readers and Assisting Ministers read the scripture lessons during the worship services and occasionally lead the responsive reading of the Psalm between the two lessons. Assisting Ministers will also assist the pastor with reading the prayers and other parts of the liturgy. Both roles assist the pastor in the distribution of communion during church services.

Ushers

Ushers distribute bulletins and other special materials and guide people in finding a seat before the service begins. During the service, ushers count the attendance, conduct the collection of the offering, and assist members and visitors during communion.

Altar Guild

Altar Guild members, operating behind the scenes, are an important part of Christ The King. Working in pairs for an entire month, guild members are responsible for preparing the altar before services and changing the altar paraments according to the church season. To be sure, holiday times are the busiest, but members find great joy in preparing the sanctuary for festival worship.

Open to all youth that are in 5th grade or higher, the Order of St. John assists with Sunday morning liturgy as altar servers, crucifiers, and acolytes. The Order of St. John also meets for social and service opportunities.

Our Mission

Purpose

We confess the apostolic faith in Jesus Christ according to the Holy Scriptures. We affirm the authority of the Scriptures as the authoritative source and norm, “according to which all doctrines should and must be judged” (Formula of Concord). We accept the ecumenical creeds and the Lutheran Confessions as true witnesses to the Word of God.

Duties

We believe that the mission of the Church is to preach the Gospel and to make disciples for Christ. We believe that making disciples — in our congregations, in our communities and nations, and around the world — must be a priority of the Church of Christ in the present age.

The CTK Care Team is a vital part of the CCC and provides meals, transportation, visitation, phone support, pastoral care, cards, and home communion to homebound/nursing home and ill members. The CCC also sponsors the "Attitudes About Aging" luncheon/workshop series, maintains First Aid Kits/AED located in the church, plans, sets up and serves at Memorial Receptions, plans "on site" classes related to health matters, and maintains the Wall of Heroes located in the church hallway.

Those of note are: Pea Soup & Pancakes (the supper and service on Shrove Tuesday), the Congregational Picnic held on a Sunday afternoon in the Spring, the Sunday before the 4th of July when we have the Casual Sunday Potluck Lunch, Shrimp-a-Roo and Bunco Too, which is a dinner and family game event before Labor Day weekend, Oktoberfest and our formal Christmas Dinner Dance, held on the first Friday in December.
