Youth and Families Description

Sunday School

Sunday School takes place during the 10:00 am service for children in PreK through 6th grade. Children begin the service with their families in the sanctuary and leave after the Children’s Moment for music time and Sunday School lessons lead by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. The first Sunday of every month is Family Sunday where children are encouraged to worship with their families.

Youth Choir

The CTK Youth Choir is a performance group for children between the ages of six and twelve. Sunday morning rehearsals are from 9:00-10:00am and the choir performs regularly. This group encourages children to sing a varied selection of sacred and secular repertoire to promote worship. Participants in this group develop skills of vocal technique, aural acuity, collaboration, and musical literacy.

First Communion Training

Once a year families are invited to participate in "First Communion Training," typically during the season of Lent. Opportunities to learn are available for children, youth, and adults of all ages. Some families choose to use this training as a prerequisite for receiving communion and others choose to participate to refresh their understanding of the sacrament.

Confirmation

The Confirmation program, or Affirmation of Baptism, is a two-year faith-formation program for students typically in 7th-8th Grades. Students dive into such topics as the Bible, the Creeds, Sacraments, Worship, and Prayer. Students in the Confirmation are encouraged to explore their faith and deepen their connections to the community.

Youth Events

Middle and High School students gather together monthly for events. Youth might participate in a local service project, a lock-in, or a trip to do something fun.

Order of St. John (OSJ)

Open to all youth that are in 5th grade or higher, the Order of St. John assists with Sunday morning liturgy as altar servers, crucifiers, and acolytes. The Order of St. John also meets for social and service opportunities.
