Youth and Family Groups

Youth and Family Programs

At Christ the King Lutheran Church in Miami, we believe in nurturing faith from the ground up—beginning with our children and families. Our Youth and Family programs are designed to help kids grow in God’s love, explore Scripture, and build lifelong friendships through meaningful worship, learning, and service. From Sunday School and First Communion Training to Youth Choir, Confirmation, and fellowship events, each experience is rooted in the Gospel and shaped by joyful, Christ-centered community. Families are invited to walk this journey together as we raise up the next generation to know and follow Jesus with confidence and grace.

Sunday School

Sunday School takes place during the 10:00 a.m. service for children in PreK through 6th grade. Children begin the service with their families in the sanctuary and leave after the Children’s Moment for lessons led by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. The first Sunday of every month is Family Sunday, when children are encouraged to worship with their families.

Children's Choir

The Children’s Choir is open to all children in PreK-6th grade. Sunday morning rehearsals are held after the 10:00 a.m. service for about 30 minutes. The Children’s Choir performs monthly during worship and plays a significant role in the annual Christmas Pageant each year.

Vacation Bible Camp

Vacation Bible Camp is a dynamic week of fun and faith formation in the summer for children who have completed K through 5th grade. Activities are led by trained staff from Luther Springs and enthusiastic volunteers from the congregation.

Nursery

We have a staffed Nursery for all infants and toddlers who aren’t quite ready for Sunday School during our 10:00 am worship service. Parents can enjoy the worship service knowing that their littlest ones are cared for and engaged with stories and play.

Confirmation

The Confirmation program, or Affirmation of Baptism, is a two-year faith-formation program for students typically in 7th and 8th grade. Students explore topics such as the Bible, the Creeds, Sacraments, Worship, and Prayer. They are encouraged to explore their faith and deepen their connections to the community.

Youth Events

Middle and High School students gather monthly for events. The youth might participate in a local service project, play games together, or go on an adventure to do something fun.

First Communion Training

Once a year, families are invited to participate in "First Communion Training" typically during the season of Lent. Learning opportunities are available for children, youth, and adults of all ages. Some families choose to use this training as a prerequisite for receiving communion, and others choose to participate to refresh their understanding of the sacrament.

Order of St. John (OSJ)

Open to all youth in 5th grade or higher, members of the Order of St. John play a vital role in Sunday worship by serving as crucifers, acolytes, and assisting with communion.

Nurture your child's relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ
